There must be an assignment given in order for one to have a cause. It takes deep commitment to an outcome or movement for one to have the ability to rise up in action to defend and advocate for it.
David had a cause to defend the name of God and bring about the downfall of Goliath so that Israel could be victorious in the war against the Philistines. He was sent by his father to bring provisions and to check up on his brothers who were in the army to fight against the Philistines. They were paralyzed by fear; Goliath’s stature and skills had intimidated King Saul and his army. But David trusted in God and said that he could kill Goliath. (1 Samuel 17)
His brothers demanded for him to be quiet and to go back home, but David saw an opportunity to bring God’s power on the scene and destroy the enemy. And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?” (1 Samuel 17:29)
God has an assignment for everyone born into the earth - to become His sons through Jesus Christ, bring His power into manifestation and destroy the forces of darkness attacking individuals, families, businesses, relationships, cities and nations. Have you discovered yours?
